Latest Updates from Our Project:

Assassin Novels, RPG, Audiobook, Coin: I hope you’ll give my new collaboration a look. (Now is a really good time to help push us over.)
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jul 08, 2022 at 01:40:16 AM

Hi, Greg here—

If you haven’t joined us for the Grayshade Novel and RPG campaign, I’d really appreciate you giving it a look. I know people are busy and times are hard, but I created Grayshade's world to uplift and remind us of the power of defiance and friendship. A whole creative team has put incredible love into this project, and if you’re not sure, you can join us now and back for $1.

What is Grayshade?

We are running this campaign to fund Fantasy Novels and an RPG in my Gray Assassin world. This world is perfect for RPG game night, with darkened streets, lurking shadows, and mysteries waiting to be found.

Why is now specifically a good time? I’ll be open and direct:

  • We are stuck in a mid-campaign slump.
  • We have a lot of project followers, who seem to be waiting to make sure the campaign will succeed (you see the catch), with some even leaving the project in the meantime. And this is where you can help push us over and beyond.
  • We have big things coming up this week, some of which are still to be announced, that will draw a lot of attention to this project, but being in a better position when those happen will make a big difference.
  • We’ll be glad to reach the minimum, but if we can catch some wind on this, then we get into exciting stretch goals, and what you get from the campaign gets even better.

And don’t forget the add-ons! To any pledge level, you can add:

  • The Grayshade audiobook for $10 (adding this help us fund accessibility to this story)
  • Fun digital Grayshade audio files by Tren Sparks (for ring-tones, notifications) and thanks in the RPG book.

To any print pledge level (starting at $20), you can add:

  • A Norse Foundry metal Founder’s Coin
  • Additional copies of Grayshade
  • The retail edition of Icarus and Jellinek, combined into one book. (Yes, I know some of you know have the whole collection! It's been three years since you funded my graphic novels and I am grateful to each of you every day.)

To those who have backed Grayshade, I see every one of you and am so grateful to all of you. But if you haven’t headed over, and might still be interested, I’ll follow up with reasons to back, and then links to the fun, backstage content (totally free) the team has put together for you. Thanks so much for your time! I hope you are finding strength in these times – for me, that strength comes from community, hope, and storytelling, which represent the core of this project. So I’m really proud to share it with you.

As always, my best-

Greg

Reasons to Back

This project is so much more than my world; it provides so much to so many indie creators and personal friends. Specifically:

  •  You can back for $1, and yes this helps a lot! We know times are difficult for many, and I’d like to share my story with you.
  • If this project funds, Detroit small press Atthis Arts (run by Emily / E.D.E. Bell / GarlicTofu who has been working exhaustively to get this seen) will be able to publish the rest of the trilogy, with novels Renegade and Heretic.
  • If this project funds, the Bay Area’s Tren Sparks (Trendane) will produce the Grayshade audiobook and fun bonus notification sound files in the Gray Assassin world.
  • If this project funds, it will fund Trini poet and game Stage Manager Brandon O’Brien (TheRisingTithes) for further editorial and consulting work.
  • If this project funds, it will enable the creation of the unique, one-run Founder’s Coin, produced by Norse Foundry with a custom illustration from German artist in the Netherlands, TariToons.
  • If this project funds, Alligator Alley Entertainment (publishers of Esper Genesis, Tales & Tomes from the Forbidden Library, and Expedition from the Mysterious Peaks) will produce a custom, 5E-compatible RPG in the Gray Assassin world.
  • If we reach 200 backers, we will put out a poll for you to help select a new character class for the RPG.
  • If this project catches wind, we can add extra content and detail to the RPG.
  • If this project catches wind, we can add color enameling to bring out the stained-glass design in the Founder's Coin.
  • If this project catches wind, we would be able to fund audiobooks for Renegade and Heretic.

  • We'll feature a whole set of fun updates from across the team, including Greg and Tren and Rich and a new short story from me, and livestreams and videos, and it's going to be really fun

See you there?  : D

A hooded and cloaked man, face partially concealed but with a beard showing, and dressed in shades of brown, slate, and crimson holds a large, curved and engraved blade at the ready. Behind him, an intricate spired cathedral rises into the gray moonlight, as green and yellow leaves swirl past in the wind.

The saga continues!

First, about a certain graphic novel, Icarus. We hope you are enjoying our bright, bold, resilient book. We love how it turned out (only because of you on so many levels, which many of you here really get) - we'd really love to continue The Longest Fall storyline, and we are eagerly watching for a moment when opportunities align. When we do it, we'll for sure do it right.

One of those alignments involves getting The Gray Assassin world off the ground. Which is the subject of this note. This is really exciting, everyone. Really. Exciting.

Today is - the release date for The Gray Assassin Trilogy Book One: Grayshade! (The exclamation isn't in the title, that's just me nerding out.)

It is also - the day you can sign up to be notified of our tie-in campaign:

It gets cooler. Wishing you the best in these times, and thank you for supporting community, storytelling, and indie fiction.

Cover reveal! (And a quick favor.)
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Apr 16, 2022 at 01:43:08 PM

Hello, Emily here. If you don't know me, I'm the executive editor of Atthis Arts, publisher of, yes, the award-winning graphic novel Icarus that you made possible. (And for any Arvanauts here, yes this is GarlicTofu, sup.) And, also yes, another quiet fantasy writer, myself.

There is so much about to happen. So much. Huge developments (huge) for The Gray Assassin Trilogy, a new Gregory A. Wilson short story (that I'm in love with and can't wait to share with you) and summer events, summer streams, summer dreams... A lot of joy on the horizon. I hope you'll join us in it! So, two things for today:

Here's the favor. And there’s no associated cost or spam:

I’d like you to please consider subscribing your YouTube account to https://YouTube.com/ArvanEleron - this is Greg's YouTube channel, separate from his Twitch, and we are rallying to get to 1000 subs. It sounds like a simple thing, but it would help so many people! (See my Twitter thread on this, for more.)

It shouldn’t be too obtrusive. You 1) log-in (just with your gmail, whether you use YouTube or not) and 2) click the “Subscribe” button - and that’s it. If you use YouTube, it lists the channels in the order you view them, so even if gaming streams aren't your thing, it’ll just slide down your menu and shouldn’t bother you.

And yeah, this is one of those indies navigating the dang capitalism things. At 1000 subscribers, the channel can monetize content, helping loads of indie and diverse creators, including BIPOC, Global, Queer, Trans, Disabled, and Neurodivergent as well as multiple wonderful, important charities. (A recent stream raised money for health care for guys into guys in Ottawa and for trans advocacy in Texas.) And, of course, helping Greg, and helping us!

Now, did you maybe hear me mention cover reveal? You can find the actual cover graphic and book blurbs and description (they're good!) on the Goodreads, but as your friendly editor, I enjoy seeing the author show the world for the first time. And here that is:

Image Description: A hooded and cloaked man, face partially concealed but with a beard showing, and dressed in shades of brown, slate, and crimson holds a large, curved and engraved blade at the ready. Behind him, an intricate spired cathedral rises into the gray moonlight, as green and yellow leaves swirl past in the wind.

That's it for now. (More soon!) Thanks again for your support to Icarus, to Gregory A. Wilson, to Atthis Arts, and to this whole village dedicated to kindness and community via story and narrative. And, as always, thanks for supporting indie fiction.

♥ - Emily.

P.S. If you'd like to help us spread the word, here's a good Tweet to share. We're not stopping until there are 1000 subs, so we're grateful for any assists on any platforms! ♥ ♥ ♥

ArvCon and a new campaign!
almost 3 years ago – Tue, May 25, 2021 at 05:47:03 PM

First – ArvCon starts in three days! For those not familiar, ArvCon is a multi-day community event raising money for high-risk cancer research. This year is going to be amazing. Prizes, guests, games, and even cancer research scientists playing D&D. This, we have to see. For more details, follow @gregoryawilson on Twitter. It’s going to be a really fun weekend, with friends and community. We hope to see you there. (And feel free to say hi! Chris and Emily are Balsteg and GarlicTofu on Twitch.)

And, even more! Atthis Arts is live now with a new, exciting campaign. It offers fairy tales and art and cultural folklore and love and friendship – and we really hope you’ll give it a look. (That would mean a lot to us.) The project is Alia Terra – Stories from the Dragon Realm: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/atthisarts/alia-terra written by Romanian author Ava Kelly and illustrated by Michigan artist Matthew Spencer. Plus we are super excited about the exclusive items we are offering, such as a woven cotton Romanian bookmark in traditional colors, an exclusive dragon D20 (!!), art cards, an artbook, a story, and a recording. We’re so proud of what we’ve put together and hope you’ll give it a look. And if you like it, sharing and letting people know helps so very, very much!

As always, thank you for your support, and thanks for supporting indie fiction.

The Team at Atthis Arts.
